Charterhouse To Tighten Security At This Year’s VGMA

Charterhouse, organizers of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has stated that they will tighten security at the 2020 edition. This decision was triggered as a result of an altercation that ensued between dancehall acts Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale which almost disrupted the event last year. Theresa Ayoade, Chief Executive of Charterhouse, said they have made provisions for stringent security checks this year. Chief Executive of Charterhouse, Theresa Ayoade stated that they will tighten security at this year's event. While Stonebwoy was on stage to receive the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year award with his team, his arch-rival, Shatta Wale trooped the stage with his team. In the heat of the matter, Stonebwoy pulled a gun and there was a lot of chaos for a while. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Theresa Ayoade stated that they have made provisions for stringent security checks this year. "Last year, we used the hand-held scanners. We did not use the full-body scanners. But now all the rest are going to be rolled out. We're going to have bag scanners, body scanners, we will scan you till you are tired," she said. "Now we are all of a heightened sense of security and we feel we should do that. It's good for all of us. We need to ensure the safety of all our patrons. So subsequently if you come for the event, we ask you to remove your shoes, open your bands, stretch your arms, you know we'll do all of that so bear with us," Theresa added. Shatta Wale and Stonbwoy have since been banned from the event. The Board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards also stripped them off the awards they won on the night and also placed an indefinite ban on them from the scheme. Gh earlier reported that Shatta Wale has stated he destroyed his plush car when he heard about the death of basketball star Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Maria-Onore. According to him, he damaged the $70,000 because he felt that he cannot send his riches along with him when he dies someday. The 'Melissa' hitmaker disclosed that he started playing basketball because of Kobe Bryant. Enjoyed reading our story?
