Sarkodie was nominated alongside six other acts, Falz, Ghetts, Kalash, Lil Simz, Nasty C and Tory Lanez and he became the first person to win the newly created category. By this proud feat, he also became the first-ever Ghanaian to win an award at the BET Hip Hop Awards.
