It’s Still illegal To Blaze Ganja

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall recording artiste Samini born Emmanuel Andrews Samini has advised the youth against smoking of cannabis. Ghana's parliament last Friday decriminalized the use of cannabis for medicinal and industrial purposes. This move by parliament was greeted with joy because people have over the years fought for the drug to be legalized. Reacting to the legalization and providing a bit of education for the masses who seem not to understand exactly what parliament has done, Samini mentioned that the country legalized it for health and industrial purposes and therefore it's still criminal to smoke it. He said "The #Hemp has been legalized for health and industrial purposes.Pls if you are not into the health and industrial benefits of the #hemp then you are not part of this exercise and Will be a criminal if caught in possession or using #staywoke. It's not legal to smoke it yet pls". Source | Summary

President Nana Akufo-Addo declared Wednesday, March 25, as a National Day of Fasting and Prayer, and while millions of people are observing, Kwaw Kese says it's a wrong approach. According to the "Dondo" hitmaker, the best approach is to use medicine and research from universities just like China did. "Ama Ghana is tired and pitiful. When the disease broke out in China, they didn't call any pastor to pray. They used medicine to fight. And it's been five days since they recorded a new case," he said in an Instagram video. He said Ghanaian herbalist are capable of finding a solution to the problem but pastors were rather used to tackle the pandemic. "What are we doing we Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology? There are many herbalists in Ghana but pastors were rather called to pray against the virus. It's the same pastors who sleep with people's wives and Legon female students.” He added: "God is even angry with you for not using your brain.” Source | Summary

Journalist chooses Obour over Dumelo

The PRO of Arts and Tourism Writers Association of Ghana [ATWAG] holds the opinion that the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon has not done much to win the hearts of his constituents. Commending Dumelo's amiable personality, Kwame Dadzie believes that the actor is fit for parliament having the requisite qualities to undertake the task ahead. However, the Citi Fm journalist was sceptical with regards to Dumelo's preparedness to serve in the interest of those in the creative industry when voted to parliament. "I have listened to John Dumelo's interviews a couple of times and I don't know what he has that would benefit his constituents and what they would expect from him but it appears clearly the last time I listened to him, I would be very glad to see John Dumelo in Parliament as a creative arts person representing or being voted as a parliamentarian but even though I believe he is a fine material, I'm a bit shaky when it comes to the fact that apart from serving his constituents whilst in parliament, is he also going to serve in the interest of those in the creative industry," Kwame Dadzie stated on Kasapa Fm's Entertainment Show. Explaining why he doubts John Dumelo's competence concerning serving in the interest of the creative arts industry, Dadzie told host of Kasapa Entertainment, Eddie Ray, he has not heard the actor state anything about creative arts industry mostly in his discussions and interviews. "That, I didn't find in any of his interviews and I don't know why candidates would talk about employment when it is actually not their responsibility as Members of Parliament. Apart from that, I have not heard him state anything about the creative arts industry anywhere as someone like me in the industry is going to also benefit.” Comparing Bice Osei Kufour to John Dumelo concerning their potentials and influence to the creative industry and on constituents, Kwame Dadzie thinks the former is likely to succeed in parliament. He scored the 'Konkontiba' hit singer 70% over the 'Baby Thief' actor 50%. "I wouldn't downplay his decision to contest as a parliamentarian but the kind of trust and hope I have in Obour, If I should rate the two, their potentials and the influence they have in parliament in retrospect to the creative industry and on constituents, I would give Obour 70% likelihood of doing that for us and Dumelo, 50% ruling out his abilities to do well in parliament." Kwame Dadzie explained. Actor turned Politician John Dumelo has come out victorious in the just ended National Democratic Congress' parliamentary elections held on Saturday, August 24, 2019. The "Perfect Picture" actor won majority votes to become the party's parliamentary candidate in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency ahead of the 2020 general elections. John Dumelo won massively with 758 votes while his only contender, Madam Adoboe had 99 votes. A total of 859 delegates voted in the elections with two rejected ballots. Ghana Averts Coronavirus Today Through ‘Dry’ Fasting And Prayers » GhBasecom™

Ghana will today turn to God in prayer over the dreaded novel Coronavirus pandemic. The day was set aside by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his nationwide broadcast since the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country. The dreaded virus has already killed two persons out of the 53 active cases recorded so far. Globally, it has claimed the lives of about 19,000 in the last few months. All religious bodies across the country will today, Wednesday, March 25, be praying for Divine intervention to halt the fast pace at which the coronavirus is spreading in the country. "These are not ordinary times and at such times in a country whose population is predominantly Christian, we must seek the face of the one true God for healing and restoration," President Akufo-Addo told Ghanaians at the televised Prayer meeting held at the Jubilee House, the seat of the Presidency in Accra, Thursday, March 19. "I have called you to this prayer meeting for us to join together and pray to the Almighty God to protect our nation, heal this land and save us from this pandemic," the President said and added, "We are also putting into practice the hope of the words in the holy scriptures in James 5:14 and 15 and I quote 'If anyone among you sins let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil and a prayer offered in faith will raise him up.” "I am confident that this morning's prayer, which will be offered in faith will help heal our nation and will help raise Ghana up and I believe profoundly that we the Ghanaian people, with our faith in the Almighty, will overcome this challenge. This too will pass," President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made the call in a televised speech on Saturday. Source | Summary
