This is a new development after Celestine Donkor's management raised copyright concerns over the founder of the Anointed Chapel Palace using the gospel singer's song "Agbebolo", to promote his 31st December Watch Night Service without seeking for authorization. After months of both parties not reaching an agreement on any settlement outside the court over the copyright issues, the manager and husband of Celestine Donkor, Mr Kofi Donkor has now made it known that they've put in the needed work to meet the affluent yet controversial Obofour in court. Gh has seen on his Facebook page reads, "Dear Rev Obofour, I write to you not as one of your followers and a beneficiary of your 'generosity' but as the executive producer of the song you used to promote your 31st December watch night service WITHOUT permission.” The now-deleted post continued that "When the police investigator and myself met you in your Achimota office you claimed you were promoting the song and that you have a very large following but sadly you said you have never heard a name Celestine Donkor before. I am surprise at how you can promote a person you don't know exists but granted. My team did everything to get you to put on your sense of reasoning but like you got one of your subordinates to tell Akwasi Aboagye on Peace FM when this issue first broke in November,"we can go to hell". We are not going to 'hell' but we are going to the courts to seek justice. This time it is an order for you to appear before the Criminal Court. This is just for the commencement of the Criminal aspect of your unlawful act. We did everything to get you to address this illegality but you know we are nobodies and so you retreated us with gross disrespect. Like they say "the wheel of justice grind slowly", We shall surely have Justice! Source | Summary

If I live long enough, it ends with me.” Powell Jobs said she believes a massive accumulation of wealth is "Dangerous for a society," and pointed to 19th- and 20th-century families like the Rockefellers, Carnegies, Mellons, and Fords as examples. Coronavirus patients over age 80 have a 15% chance of dying. Here’s the mortality rate for every age bracket. [ARTICLE]

The coronavirus has reached every continent except Antarctica , but it doesn't infect all patients equally. A recent study from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention found that the virus most seriously affects older people with preexisting health problems. Around 80% of coronavirus cases are mild , the research showed. The study collected data from more than 44,000 confirmed patients in China through February 11, offering one of broadest depictions of how COVID-19 operates in humans. The data suggests a person's chances of dying from the disease increase with age. Children and teens: 0.2%. 20s: 0.2%. 30s: 0.2%. 40s: 0.4%. 50s: 1.3%. 60s: 3.6%. 70s: 8.0%. 80s and older: 14.8%. The study did not report any deaths in children below age 10, who represented less than 1% of the patients. Patients ages 10 to 19 were just as likely to die as patients in their 30s, but patients in their 50s were about three times more likely to die than patients in their 40s. The risk of dying is dramatically higher among patients in their 70s and 80s, likely because many of those people have preexisting health issues. Coronavirus patients with heart disease had around a 10% mortality rate, according to the study, while those with diabetes had around a 7% mortality rate. Around three-quarters of the Chinese patients had no preexisting health problems. The fatality rate for that group was just under 1%. Here's how the coronavirus compares to a handful of other major outbreaks. Fatality statistics could change as the coronavirus continues to spread around the globe, however. "If indeed we discover that there are far more cases that are actually being reported and that one of the primary reasons for this is that we're just not detecting asymptomatic or mild or moderately symptomatic cases that don't end up seeking healthcare then our estimates for the case fatality rate will likely decrease," Lauren Ancel Meyers, an epidemiologist at the University of Texas at Austin, told Business Insider. In total, COVID-19 has killed more than 2,800 people and infected more than 82,000. It originated in Wuhan, central China's most populous city, and has since spread to 47 other countries. Bill Gates says the coronavirus is a pandemic and a ‘once-in-a-century pathogen.’ Here are the solutions he’s proposing to fight it. [ARTICLE]

Bill Gates has warned for years that the world is not ready for a deadly pandemic. Some of his ominous predictions are now playing out as the deadly coronavirus spreads around the globe. "In the past week, COVID-19 has started behaving a lot like the once-in-a-century pathogen we've been worried about," Gates wrote in a new op-ed for the New England Journal of Medicine. Gates referred to the outbreak as a pandemic, even though the World Health Organization has not yet declared it a pandemic. "In any crisis, leaders have two equally important responsibilities: solve the immediate problem and keep it from happening again," Gates wrote. "The COVID-19 pandemic is a case in point. We need to save lives.” Wealthy countries should supply low- and middle-income countries in Africa and southern Asia with trained healthcare workers to monitor the virus' spread and deliver vaccines. Gates predicted that large-scale trials for a coronavirus vaccine could happen as early as June. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institutes of Health's infectious-disease center, recently said that he hopes to start testing vaccine candidates in people by mid-April. Drug development is typically a multiyear process that can cost roughly $1 billion in the US. Gates said making vaccines affordable for everyone is the "Right strategy" for containing the coronavirus outbreak. On Wednesday, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar declined to promise that a future coronavirus vaccine would be affordable for all Americans. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has already contributed $100 million toward the fight to contain the outbreak. In his op-ed, Gates said warding off a pandemic will require billions of dollars. Although China has seen a drop-off in its rate of new cases in recent days, the coronavirus has spread to at least 55 other countries. NOW WATCH: Pathologists debunk 13 coronavirus myths. How people in Senegal are turning an invasive weed into a source of clean energy [ARTICLE]

Typha, commonly known as cattail, has been destroying rice crops in rural Senegal for over 30 years, but it's now become a source of economic opportunity. The bio-coal made from Typha is a cleaner and safer alternative to firewood making it a popular choice for cooking. This bio-coal is made from an invasive weed that's been ravaging rice fields for over 30 years. Now it's being used to cook, build homes, and create economic opportunities here in Senegal all in a sustainable way. Typha became an international problem after the construction of two dams between Senegal and Mauritania. Now locals are trying on their own and with their bare hands as part of a project led by the French NGO GRET. The bio-coal is made by burning Typha in these outdoor kilns for six hours at a time. Yacine Seye, Typha briquette maker : "That is carbonized Typha. We have carbonized it and obtained the material we needed. There are no ashes, there are no losses. That is what we wanted to achieve and we got it.” Typha briquettes both ignite faster and burn longer than wood. Typha coal, on the other hand, produces much less smoke. Typha can also be mixed with clay to make bricks for construction. Seye: "Before getting this job, women were just at home. We went to the fields one month for a few days and we would do nothing else. Now with the transformation of Typha into bio-coal, we can support our husbands in our homes, educate children, and even cook.” Every month, they turn the equivalent of 13,000 kilograms of Typha into bio-coal. Djibi Ndiagne, Typha cutter and farmer: "On the one hand, it's good because it gives me work so I can feed my family. But on the other hand there are consequences, because Typha is taking over a lot of space. We used to grow rice in this part and now, because of Typha it's impossible.” Cutting Typha is labor-intensive and transportation costs are high. Ernest Dione, Senegal Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development: "Today we are starting to look at Typha differently and to consider it as a resource. In Senegal we are just beginning, but we have proved that we can do a lot with Typha.” Source | Create Website | Criar site | Crear sitio web | Créer un site Web
Angry Robinhood users say they missed out on making thousands during the stock-trading app’s outages, but a big class-action suit is unlikely [ARTICLE]

The commission-free trading app, popular among millennials, was offline for almost all of trading Monday and half of Tuesday due to infrastructure issues as the markets made their biggest rally in over a decade. Some people have threatened legal action against Robinhood and are asking regulators to investigate the company but federal rules make a class-action lawsuit unlikely. When Robinhood faced outages Monday and Tuesday, users were locked out of the biggest market rally in 12 years. Now, some users are calling on federal regulators to investigate the commission-free trading app. Robinhood cited problems with its infrastructure as the reason the app went offline amid a high volume of trading requests. In a letter to users Tuesday night, Robinhood offered to address concerns of lost money "On a case by case basis" and said some users would be offered three months of its premium "Gold" service for free. As rage mounted over the app's downtime, many users said they would file complaints with the Financial Industry Regulatory Agency. Others threatened to join a class-action lawsuit against the app, and a Twitter account named " Robinhood Class Action " racked up more than 6,600 followers this week. Federal guidelines indicate that a class action lawsuit against the company is unlikely. A FINRA spokesperson told Business Insider that, in general, investors can't bundle complaints and file a joint class-action complaint. FINRA rules set forth narrow circumstances for joint complaints stemming from shared transactions, meaning complainants against Robinhood would likely have to go it alone. The Robinhood Class Action Twitter account seemed to acknowledge as much Wednesday afternoon, telling its followers that individual cases were the most likely path forward. James Koncar, a Robinhood user from Tampa, told Business Insider that he's upset at missing out on trades because of being locked out of the rally. Koncar said he reported Robinhood to the Securities and Exchange Commission and is considering filing a complaint with FINRA and added that he won't be using Robinhood in the future. "They opened the door for other brokers to offer commission free trading and I will be taking advantage of that with another broker.” Source | Create Website | Criar site | Crear sitio web | Créer un site Web
