Boeing 737-500 crashed with 62 people on board minutes after taking off from the country's capital city of Jakarta on Saturday, January 9.- Among the passengers on board were two pilots, four cabin crew, seven children and three infants. At the moment, the cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained. One man identified as Yaman Zai disclosed that he lost four family members on the flight, his wife and three children. Rescuers have pulled out body parts, pieces of clothing and scrap metals from the Java Sea waters where an Indonesian passenger plane dropped. "These pieces were found by the SAR team between Lancang Island and Laki Island," National Search and Rescue Agency Bagus Puruhito said in a statement. Among the 62 people on board were two pilots, four cabin crew, seven children and three infants. At the moment, the cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained with the authorities focusing on the search of the bodies but with dimmed hope of finding survivors. Distraught relatives of the missing passengers have camped at the Pontianak airport. As previously reported, the Sriwijaya Air flight SJ182 while flying over the Java Sea is said to have dropped 3000 metres in altitude in less than 60 seconds before disappearing. The plane is reported to have departed from Jakarta to Pontianak on the island of Borneo from the Indonesian capital's airport at 2.37pm local time.
